Video contribution to the ACRL23 Conference panel discussion.

Learn from Autistic librarians about their experiences with the academic library hiring process, how libraries can do better in serving Autistic librarians, and why it's important to listen to actually Autistic voices.Learning OutcomesCritically examine social expectations of academic library recruitment practices in the USA and Australia in order to become more inclusive of autistic applicants. Engage with #ActuallyAutistic narratives describing struggles common to autistic people's experiences in the hiring process in order to better recognize barriers present in the traditional academic library interview environment and hiring process. Reflect on the benefits of skills based evaluation of candidates in order to reduce bias and exclusionary hiring practices in academic libraries.
